Swelling tummy Swollen ankles, This is its effect on me. It has no unalienable rights, No entitlement to due process, Its fate is in my hands. I am the judge, This thing inside the prisoner on trial. Either a sentence to life Or a sentence to death, Is the verdict I must come to. But as I deliberate a resolution, I become puzzled as to what crime was committed. Your record shows no blemish, There is no felony you have taken part in. Why should I be the barrier, Between life and non-existence? Little one surrounded by me, Tiny treasure beheld by me, With no more hesitation Am I choosing to love you.
